Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as an American performer and rapper, performing sly tunes that dealt with questions of race and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Before expanding into Hollywood the singer was able to make a few songs. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents within Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came through the trumpet. Then, she started the classical and hip-hop genres. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies at college, even studying Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. After graduating, it wasn't until when she decided to turn her attention to music. The track My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a viral hit on the Internet and eventually appeared on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef, a body positive track and the eye-catching NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015, which was a different project. She opted to pursue acting careers after completing her first two projects, as an author and musician. Alongside early TV shows that included Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018, her breakthrough roles included Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, In Fina We Trust in June of that year.
