The track has become the most streamed track at that period within a span of six months. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish generally, and four in 2016. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 and soon after popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018), while Madonna was a part of Medellin with Maluma (2019).
